The Risk Manager will be responsible for identifying, assessing, monitoring, and controlling all types of risks related to local equities trading on the Amman Stock Exchange (ASE). also the role ensures full compliance with Jordan Securities Commission (JSC) and Securities Depository Center (SDC) regulations and supports the brokerage’s management in maintaining a capital adequacy in line with local requirements. the Risk Manager must act as the central control point for margin approvals, sitting the limits, exposure management, stock eligibility, and stress testing and ensuring regulatory compliance while protecting the firm’s capital.
Main tasks and responsibilities
1. Margin & Exposure Control
- Approve and continuously monitor client margin accounts and exposure levels in line with company policy and JSC regulations.
- Evaluate client financial strength and portfolio composition before granting or increasing margin limits.
- Define stock eligibility lists, applying filters for liquidity, volatility, concentration, and recent price behavior.
- Establish maximum leverage ratios per stock category
- Conduct daily monitoring of client positions, unrealized P&L, and margin utilization to ensure early detection of risk build-up.
- Initiate and approve margin calls, forced liquidations, or limit reductions as required.
- Design and maintain real-time dashboards for monitoring exposures, collateral coverage, and portfolio diversification
2. Market & Concentration Risk
- Monitor and report on overall market risk exposure, including sector and single-stock concentration, correlation, and market volatility impact.
- Define and update house limits for total exposure by instrument, sector, and client category.
- Perform stress tests and scenario analyses simulating sharp market drops or illiquidity situations.
- Recommend adjustments to risk limits during periods of elevated volatility.
3. Stock & Collateral Quality
- Assess and update the approved securities list for margin financing, based on trading volume, historical volatility, and corporate actions.
- Evaluate the collateral value haircut for each stock based on liquidity and risk profile.
- Monitor suspended, delisted, or volatile stocks to restrict or reduce their margin eligibility.
- Coordinate with the back office to ensure collateral valuation and revaluation are accurate and timely.
4. Governance, Reporting & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with JSC circulars, margin trading regulations, and capital adequacy requirements.
- Review daily risk reports highlighting exposures, breaches, and margin utilization by client.
- Present weekly risk summary to the CEO and monthly consolidated risk dashboard to Group CFO.
- Coordinate with Compliance and Internal Audit on JSC inspections and audits.
- Maintain all policies, manuals, and approval workflows aligned with local and group standards.
5. Policy Development & Continuous Improvement
- Maintain and update the Risk Management Policy for local market operations
- Define clear risk escalation and approval procedures (e.g., limits that require Group CFO approval).
- Enhance margin systems to include auto-monitoring and pre-trade exposure checks.
- Conduct regular training sessions for dealing and operations staff on margin risk awareness.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or Economics (Master’s preferred).
- 7–10 years of experience in a JSC-licensed brokerage with direct exposure to margin trading on ASE.
- Proven experience in risk control, exposure monitoring, or dealing-room supervision.
- In-depth knowledge of JSC margin regulations, ASE trading mechanisms, and SDC settlement.
- Strong command of Excel, Power BI, or risk system tools for real-time analysis.
- Excellent communication in Arabic and English.
- FRM, CFA, or equivalent certification is an advantage
